Verchromen
Before a product is chrome-plated it is always first nickel-plated. The final chrome-plated layer gives a product that characteristic deep-bluish shine. The thickness of the chrome layer can between 0.3 and 1.0 µm.
Once exposed to air, chrome immediately forms an oxide membrane, which does not become dull and acts as a precious metal. Bright chrome is applied as a chip-proof finishing layer. If it is applied on top of a matte nickel layer, the chrome layer also becomes matte. Chrome-plating is extremely tough and durable. It is not possible to apply another layer over a chrome layer.
